DRILLING TOOLS

TUNGSTEN CARBIDE is the base material of choice for hardsurfacing drilling tools subjected to abrasion.There are many products containing various concentrations, mesh sizes, hardness and shapes of tungsten carbide readily available.There are also various methods of application, such as HVOF, electric arc welding (cored wires or electrodes) oxyacetylenic torch, PTA, and more recently LASER. Oddly enough, the highest level of abrasion resistance is achieved by applying spherical tungsten carbides in cord form (such as TECHNOSPHERE®) by means of the oxyacetylenic torch method.

STABILIZERS - CENTRALIZERS

Tests, conducted in the North Sea through well known formations, have shown that stabilizers hardsurfaced with TECHNOSPHERE® are more cost effective and reduce dramatically repair time compared to similar stabilizers hardsurfaced with the well known "plaquettes" of sintered carbide.

HOLE OPENERS

The wear rate of the hole opener arms can be greatly reduced by hardsurfacing them with TECHNODUR® or TECHNOSPHERE®.

REAMERS

Effective protection of the body, in the areas around the pockets can be achieved by using TECHNODUR® or TECHNOSPHERE®.
